Walker
Monday, November 16th, 2009
At some point this past week, Spencer discovered that he could not only cruise around on furniture like couches, but also with chairs, and that he can actually push around the chairs. So now we spend quite a bit of time each day pushing around chairs (or the exersaucer). He is not too good at steering, so I have to help him with that. He has also been pretty talkative lately. I think he is saying: “I don’t need no stinking walker! I make my own walkers”
Helping Hand

Spencer has been working really hard on practicing walking lately. In this little snippet, he musters up the courage to walk over to Clare from holding onto the kitchen cabinets. He is a bit hesitant, but eventually takes Clare’s hand and walks over to her. Needless to say, we are impressed.
Cruising
Saturday, November 7th, 2009
Spencer has been working on cruising for a couple months now, and is getting very good at it. Cruising is the practice of walking around while hanging onto stuff, like furniture. In this video, Spencer is mastering moving one from piece of furniture to another. Also note that he turns off the radio in the middle of the video. I predict that he will be walking by Christmas. Should we set up a pool?
Last day of school

Today was Spencer’s last day at Kindercare. He has basically been sick for the last three months, ranging from just a little runny nose and a cough to having a fever, to having gastroenteritis (stomach flu). We finally decided that it would be better for him to be around fewer kids, and so we got a nanny, who starts tomorrow. He does seem to like the other kids at Kindercare and all the toys, but he also doesn’t nap very well there, and it doesn’t make sense to have him in Kindercare if we have to keep taking off work because he is sick. Hopefully he will do better with the nanny, and will be in great health for the upcoming holiday trips.
