Margaret Alice Dibble-Felty arrived on Sunday, Feb. 27th, 2011 at 9:30 a.m.
weighing 7 lbs, 8 oz
measuring 20.5 in long
All are doing well.Spencer has been really great with his new baby sister. He frequently points at her and says “baby”, and then “quiet, sshh” One of the first things he did was offer her a toy – a teething ring.

On Monday, Dave and Ellen took Spencer to the train museum, while Clare and I enjoyed our day off from work by working around the house, like going through piles of junk, and trying to get ready for the new baby. I wasn’t actually there, but from the pictures, it seems like Spencer had a great time.
It seems like not too long ago when I called Spencer man of the house. Now he really seems like the king of the castle in the big recliner in the living room. He can climb up all by himself, and sometimes he can even get it to recline. He and Dave were having a good time fooling around in the chair last weekend.
We’ve been receiving a lot of packages for Spencer over the last couple weeks. We saved them all up until Sunday morning, then let Spencer open them. He is getting really good at opening presents. Thanks to all the friends and family for the great presents!

As part of Spencer’s 2nd birthday extravaganza, we got him a new bed – a racecar bed. Spencer had not been very interested in sleeping in his toddler bed recently. For several weeks, he mostly slept either in our bed or the guest bed – sometimes with me and/or Clare – sometimes by himself. it seemed time to get him a new bed, and since he is so infatuated with cars and trucks, we figured that a racecar bed would be irresistible, and that we would all sleep better. I picked it up the frame last Monday from a woman who sold it to us on craigslist. Then last Saturday we took Spencer to Mattress King, and he really seemed to like the “Spencer Plush” mattress, so we got that, and then set it up while he was napping.
Where did Spencer sleep on Saturday night? He slept in the guest bed with Dave and Ellen, who confirmed that Spencer does kick quite a bit in his sleep. Since then he has slept quite happily in his new bed though, and we all appreciate it.
Spencer turned two years old today. We had a whole weekend full of fun. Even today was fun. Dave and Ellen arrived Friday evening, and Dave left a few minutes ago. We all had president’s day off, so we were able to continue playing with Spencer today. However, the big birthday event was on Saturday. We rented a room at the Apex – the local rec center – and had a pool party. Every one had a really great time. Ellen went all out with party favors and decorations using a fire truck theme. She got fire hats for every kid, along with buckets and beach balls they could use in the pool, plus fire-hydrant shaped water bottles, and some little fire engines. We couldn’t find a fire engine cake, so instead we got monster trucks, which Spencer absolutely loves.
Every one was able to make it to the party, including all the kids from our block, Spencer’s friend Tao from the Academy, who lives just around the block, plus my cousin Jessie and her kids, as well as one of Clare’s work friends. Spencer gots lots of cool new toys – mostly trucks and cars, his favorite. Thanks to every one for making Spencer’s second birthday a great one.
We have trimmed up Spencer’s hair a couple times over the last year, but yesterday we took him to get a professional hair cut for the first time. We took him to Cool Cuts, which has barber chairs shaped like Fire Engines. In fact, it seemed to be pretty much the same pedal care fire engine that his Aunt Jean got him for Christmas. They also have individual TVs for every kid. Spencer was very good – he was a bit tired, after just having woken up from a nap, and enjoyed watching Cars while he got his haircut.
