Visiting the Kunerts in Eckental and Nürnberg excursion

Rob’s family hosted Emmi Kunert in 1997. Emmi was able to join us Monday at his parents house where we are staying for a couple days. Our time in Eckental has been rainy which is good for visiting, but makes the kids feel cooped up.
Meg continues to love fountains in general and Schöner Brunnen in particular. Especially turning the gold ring to make a wish.
Rob shared his appreciation of Dürer with us. His prints were the Instagram of his day, giving him an income stream so he could be picky about his painting commissions and fiscally successful in his day. Meg really enjoyed his art and the recreated rooms from the 1500s. A newspaper photojournalist took Rob’s picture appreciating the art, so he may turn up in a paper somewhere.
We’ve enjoyed lots of good food, including the Nürnberg (and each individual region’s) sausages, fresh strawberries and asparagus, daily fresh rolls, and various cheeses.
We toured the underground cave system used to store beer and protect art and people during the devastating WWII bombings, Nürnberg castle’s lookout tour and deep well, and St. Sebaldus church. The church had trees in water, like most people keep flowers in vases. It really underscored the vastness of these cathedrals.
