Happy Solstice

Solstice tree

We put up our solstice tree the weekend after Thanksgiving. Spencer actually helped me put it together, and has been pretty good about not destroying it. He does like to take the ornaments off some, so occasionally we have to remind him not to. We’relooking forward to more daylight tomorrow.

Thanksgiving

Lots of good food

Lots of good food

We stayed home for Thanksgiving this year. It was very nice not to be traveling, and since we invited some friends and family over, it also forced us to clean the house, which was good. Our old roommate from Ann Arbor, Stephanie, came to stay with us for a couple days. She was very helpful in cleaning up and preparing food. Thanks a bunch! Our friend Nick from Boulder, as well as my Aunt Betty, Uncle Phil, and cousin Melissa also came. We had a very nice time, and some excellent food. I got a few pictures, but unfortunately did not get any of Phil and Betty, or of Clare and me. Oh well, maybe another time.

Roar!

Spencer the Tiger

Spencer’s Great Aunt Jean got him a tiger costume for halloween. It fits perfectly, and Spencer seems to tolerate wearing it some. Last night we did some practice to get him used to it. He does a really great job roaring. This video is from my phone, which doesn’t do too well in low light, but the audio is pretty good.

A memorable Memorial Day

Still catching up on a few old posts. For memorial day, Uncle Phil, Aunt Betty and their daughter Melissa came over for a barbecue. We got lucky and it didn’t rain while we were trying to barbecue, though we ended up eating inside. We made our usual mixed grill with some buffalo brats, locally grown beef hamburgers, veggie burgers, and grilled vegetables (eggplant, mushrooms, and bell peppers). We also had all of my favorite salads. Since I was busy cooking, I only snapped a few pictures.

Merry Christmas!

I had my final visit with Clare this past weekend in Colorado before I move out there for good. Clare had set up our Christmas tree, but had not been able to find the lights and ornaments. I think I must have looked at literally every box (at, not through — we did a pretty good job labeling them), but eventually I found the lights. Merry Christmas to all!
