While Spencer continues to be pretty good in terms of sharing toys with Meg, he does occasionally do the thing where he only wants to play with whatever toy Meg is playing with. Yesterday while I was making moussaka for dinner Meg was playing with the big Tonka truck Ellen had gotten Spencer a couple years ago, and Spencer was getting jealous. Clare finally resolved the situation by suggesting that Spencer could push Meg around in the dump truck, which kept them both happy for quite awhile. Then at some point Spencer got tired of pushing Meg around, and wanted Meg to push Spencer around. We weren’t quite sure she could do it, but in typical Meg style, she pushed him quite well! She still has to learn how to steer a bit though.

Meg walking

Meg has been getting really good at walking in the last couple weeks. Just in the last couple days, she has started to switch from mostly crawling to mostly walking. It is pretty exciting to watch her. We are especially impressed by how well she can pivot, and can walk a few steps, stop, then walk some more. She is also really good at bending over and picking stuff up, and then bending back up (though in this video she does fall down when bending over). Today I finally got a pretty good little video of her walking. It also features Spencer playing with some monster trucks, and Great Aunt Jean encouraging both of them. And like all good baby videos, it ends with Meg trying to get the camera.

Bathtime and teeth

Meg has been thoroughly enjoying baths lately, and Spencer usually likes them too. We recently snapped a few photos of them in the tub. We also got a couple nice pictures of Meg’s new teeth. Her two bottom teeth started coming in around the beginning of November, and they seem like they are all the way through now. It was nice that they both came at the same time. We think the top teeth will be coming soon.

A note for the history books – it’s not a good idea to flush scissors down the toilet. (Thanks a lot Spencer)

Lightning McQueen raking leaves

Sunday afternoon after nap Spencer helped me rake leaves. We had a pretty good time. He is getting more helpful all the time. Here is a short video of him scooping leaves into the wheelbarrow. We dumped all the leaves onto the garden to compost. (We went to the zoo for trick or treating in the morning. He did not want to take off his awesome Lightning McQueen costume)

Crawling, cruising, and cuddling

Meg has made an order of magnitude leap in her mobility in the last week. She has gone from doing belly flops to regular forward crawling, and has started cruising a bit too. She can pick herself up to standing by grasping onto the couch, and will shuffle side to side a little bit. She also has a little table which she likes to use to steady herself, and sometimes will push that around the living room. But every once in awhile, when she is not busy crawling and cruising, she will cuddle with her parents and brother. Here, everyone is watching Blues Brothers, one of Spencer’s favorites. Lots of good songs and car chases!
