Meg walking

Meg has been getting really good at walking in the last couple weeks. Just in the last couple days, she has started to switch from mostly crawling to mostly walking. It is pretty exciting to watch her. We are especially impressed by how well she can pivot, and can walk a few steps, stop, then walk some more. She is also really good at bending over and picking stuff up, and then bending back up (though in this video she does fall down when bending over). Today I finally got a pretty good little video of her walking. It also features Spencer playing with some monster trucks, and Great Aunt Jean encouraging both of them. And like all good baby videos, it ends with Meg trying to get the camera.

In spite of the fact that Clare and I had a nasty cold over Christmas, we had a very nice time. We did end up not going over to Phil and Betty’s as planned, but we did manage to muster up enough strength between each blowing of the nose to play with the kids.

We spread out present opening over 2 days, which was a good idea. So on 24th we opened presents from each other, and on the 25th, we opened presents from “Santa Claus”. Spencer opened all the presents for everyone. He was very excited, and at each present would say “what is it?”

Crashing

For the last several months, one of Spencer’s favorite games has been crashing. This involves running into each other and falling down. It is quite fun. Here he teaches grandpa how to do it.

Christmas Pageant

Spencer with Santa Claus

Today was Spencer’s Christmas Pageant at school. It was quite nice. Each class sang several songs. The Toddler 2′s all started stomping their feet because they thought it was neat that the bleachers made noise. Spencer’s pre-school class sang several songs. For some reason, Spencer didn’t really participate, except for one song, based off of “five little monkeys jumping on the bed”. So here is a video of that. He also sat on Santa’s lap, and asked him for candy – which he got immediately – a candy cane.
