While it wasn’t raining during Harold and Fran’s visit, we took a little trip over to the Red Rocks amphitheater. It is only a few miles west of Golden, just in the foothills. As the name implies it has Red Rocks. In the 30’s they began building an amphitheater in the rocks as part of the CCC started by FDR. It was finally finished in the 40’s, and has had many concerts since then. Artists really like to play there, since it has such great natural acoustics. During the day it is free to visit, and many people go there to work out, climbing all the stairs.
The last time we visited it was quite brown, but it has been raining very much lately, so this time it was quite green.
We also made a short stop at Lookout Mountain to see Buffalo Bill’s grave and the nice view. Even though it was quite cloudy, you could barely make out downtown Denver, and Clare got a few nice shots of the Coor’s brewery and South Table mountain, near where she works.
